Pvt Sidney E. Stearns enlisted in Little Rock,Arkansas on 3 November 1943.
He was a graduate of University High School, and received his diploma in absentia in June, 1944. He trained at Fort Knox, Ky, and Fort Meade, Md. He went to England in May and to France in July, 1944. He was killed while fighting to relieve the trapped "Red Devils", British paratroopers surrounded in Holland by the Germans.
Pvt Sidney E. Stearns was first buried at Temporary American Military Cemetery Fosse,
Belgium Block E, Row 9, Grave 172.
