S/Sgt Eugene J. Walczynsk was employed at Chicago Molded Products.

Extreme battle conditions prevailed from time landfall was made on enemy coast to the target and about half way out on course to enemy coast. Nine aircraft were lost on this mission, all believed due to enemy fighters and two direct hits by aerial bombs. Fighter attacks and flak were most severe in the target area. Due te prevailling battle conditions, accurate observatons were impossible.

Information delivered indicated that B-17 A/C 42-30149 reported a B-17 aircraft blown by an aerial bomb believed to be B-17F A/C 42-29940, piloted by Lt. Andrew Loog. Eugene was missing in action on 13 June 1943 and determined dead on 14 June 1944.
The Fortress came to rest on the Rosenhof farm which is 1 mile south of Ehndorf, a municipality in the district of Rensburg-Eckernförde, in Schleswig-Holstein, German, about 4 miles southwest of Neumunster.
