2nd Lt Clarence E. Meekin graduated from Avon High School and attended the University of Rochester.He joined the National Guard in Genesco, New York on 27 January 1941 and later was transferred to the Air Corps. He was graduated as a bombardier in February 1943.
His son, Richard Stanley, was born 10 days after his father was shot down.
The airplane was hit by flak.
