1st Lt George M. Hale graduated from North Little Rock High School and Michigan State College. He received his commission while at college and entered the cavalry in July 1940. He was later transferred to the Army Air Corps. He was sent to England 12 April 1943.

On 21 May 1943, he was able to return his aircraft to base after the pilot was killed.

An aircraft believed to be B-17F 42-29940, piloted by 1st Lt Loog, was hit by an aerial bomb while flying in the target area. The aircraft was seen to explode and no further observations made.
