B-17G 42-354, piloted by 1st Lt Andrew Roznetinsky, was seen to leave the formation on the route out in the vicinity of Brussels. No fighters were seen to attack and no chutes were seen leaving the ship as it went into the clouds below under control. It was reported that he had called in over VHF that two superchargers were out.According to the crew who survived, they were attacked by fighters. Ragnar was killed instantly and died in the arms of the Right Waist Gunner, who was trying to help him to the escape door. He was initially buried with the other crew member at Wevelgem, Belgium.
