T/Sgt Henry M. Kerestes graduated from Mount Carmel Area High School in 1937.He enlisted in the Air Corps on 9 January 1940 and was stationed at Wheeler Air Base when Pearl Harbor was attacked.
The aircraft was attacked on the route out from the target by enemy aircraft which caused a fire. It was last seen, getting in a spin.
Three crew members survived and were taken prisoner, seven were killed. They were initially buried at the Prisoner's Cemetery in Lingen, Germany.
