T/Sgt Donald A. Cowdery graduated from Stratford High School and attended college.He volunteered for the Army of the United States in Hartford, Connecticut on 7 July 1942.
The aircraft was attacked on the route out from the target by enemy aircraft which caused a fire. It was last seen, getting in a spin.
Three crew members survived and were taken prisoner, seven were killed. They were initially buried at the Prisoner's Cemetery in Lingen, Germany.
