Pvt Sam H. Mitchell attended Coffee High School and was employed at the Martin Stove and Range Company in Florence before he enlisted at Fort McPherson, Georgia on 21 June 1944. He was sent overseas in November 1944.He was killed by a gunshot to the chest.
