Pfc Sylvester C. Napiecek attended high school for one year before he enlisted in Allentown, Pennsylvania on 9 November 1942.

He died from artillery shell fragments in his buttock and hip.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
