Pfc Donald E. Kitson attended college and was a printing and publishing clerk before he enlisted at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas on 18 August 1944.

He was killed by small arms fire to the head.

He is remembered at the Arlington Heights Cemetery in Audubon, Audubon County, Iowa.
