T/5 Vernon M. Connor was an electrician.

He enlisted at Fort Bragg, North Carolina on 9 June 1943.

His M4 bulldozer tank was piling dirt over pillboxes openings, rendering them inoperative. During this action his tank was hit by a panzerfaust.
