T/5 Richard C. Grohmann was employed by the Lawrence Engineering Co.

He enlisted in Newark, New Jersey on 28 December 1942.

His M4 bulldozer tank was piling dirt over pillboxes openings, rendering them inoperative. During this action his tank was hit by a panzerfaust.
