1st Lt Jerome P. Eastman graduated from Lyons Township High School in 1930 and Norwich University in 1933. He was employed by the Fleischman Yeast Company.

He was a member of the R.O.T.C. and was called to duty in October, 1941. He arrived in England in February, 1944 and entered France at D-Day plus 5.

He was awarded the Silver Star Medal for action above and beyond the call of duty in Normandy. He was wounded during this action, but returned to duty to participate in the battle of the Roer.

On 1 March 1945, in the vicinity of Golpen, Germany, he was killed while leading his tank platoon.

Lt Eastman is remembered at North Cemetery in Hampton, Windham County, Connecticut with a memorial marker.
