Pfc Eugene D. Bennett graduated from New Lexington High School and attended Ohio University in Athens, Ohio for two years.

He enlisted at Fort Hayes, Ohio on 24 July 1944. He was sent overseas in December 1944.

He died to the effects of artillery shell fragments, received five days earlier.

He is remembered at the New Lexington Cemetery in New Lexington, Perry County, Ohio.
