1st Lt Edward Shanley graduated from Amsterdam High School and Canton Actual Business College. He was employed by the Republic Steel Corp.He enlisted at Fort Hayes, Columbus, Ohio on 6 November 1942 and was sent overseas in December 1943.
He was initially buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Saint James, France.
