Pfc Clark entered the service in January 1944, six months before he received his diploma from Mansfield High School. He received training at Fort Eustis in Texas, Camp Stewart in Georgia, Fort Bliss and Camp Maxey in Texas and Fort Meade in Maryland.His father died in 1938 afther which his mother was married to James Leroy Poole.
