S/Sgt Richard M. Olnhausen enlisted in Cleveland, Ohio on 25 June 1941.

He was initially buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Limey, France.

One picture is the official campaign poster for the Canton's United War and Community Fund campaign. It was built around this photograph symbolizing the slogan "Give Once--For Both." The picture was stages especially for the occasion and the soldier is Richard Olnhausen. The girl is Miss Helen Aungst. The photography is by Maurice Sproul. The picture carried out the campaign's two-fold purpose of providing services for men in the armed forces and looking after civilian needs at the same time.
