1st Sgt Victor C. Keichel joined the Regular Army at Fort McDowell, Angel Island, California on 13 July 1941. He served two times overseas during World War II, the first in Australia and New Zealand. While on duty at the latter place in December 1943, he was severly wounded in action and was returned to the United States for hospitalization.Having recovered from his wounds he was sent to Europe on 16 February 1945 and immediately went into action on German soil.
