2nd Lt Elmer W. Empie graduated from Ann Arbor High School in 1942. He attended the University of Michigan.A/C 44-40439 was flying off our right wing, straggling slightly. Three enemy aircraft attacked from my left. The aircraft caught fire, and the whole right wing was enveloped in flames. Shot down by enemy fighters.
