T/Sgt Harrison J. Dodd Jr. was a mechanic before he volunteered for the Air Corps of the U.S. Army in Newark, New Jersey on 16 November 1942.

The airplane was shot down by enemy fighters over the target. Two crew members were killed, eight men were taken prisoner.

According to surviving crew members, T/Sgt Dodd was wounded in the chest and lying on the flight deck below the top turret. The pilot told them he was already dead.

After the crash his body was found in the airplane.

He was initially buried at the German military cemetery in Elsgrund-Döberitz on 27 June 1944.
