S/Sgt Paul W. Sucher enlisted from Rochester, New York on 18 September 1942.At 1515, fighters with rocket guns attacked the formation. Two B-17s, 2nd Lt Starnes ship and A/C 42-3328, collided in midair after one was hit by a rocket. Planes seemed to explode. Of A/C 415, nine crew members were killed. Their bodies were interred initially at the Protestant Cemetery in Burgsteinfurt, Germany. One crew member survived the crash.
He is remembered at the Sodus Rural Cemetery in Sodus, New York.
