S/Sgt Charles D. Stamiris attended Washington High School and East High School.

He enlisted from Rochester, New York, on 20 August 1942.

At 1515, fighters with rocket guns attacked formation. Two B-17s, 2nd Lt Starnes ship and A/C 42-3328, collided in midair after one was hit by a rocket. Planes seemed to explode. Of A/C 415, nine crew members were killed. Their bodies were interred initially at the Protestant Cemetery in Burgsteinfurt, Germany. One crew member survived the crash.
