Cpl Louis H. Brodman enlisted at Fort Hayes, Columbus, Ohio on 4 February 1942.

He trained at Camp Polk, Louisiana and landed in England June 5, 1944. On August 10 he arrived in France and took part in the spearhead attack across France with Patton´s Third Army. Six weeks later he joined Hodge´s First Army in Holland which was set back at St. Nith, Belgium, during the German offensive in December. During 11 months overseas as a tank gunner he saw action in the Battles of Verdun, Antwerp, the loss of St. Nith, its recapture. At the time of his death he was at the Ruhr Pocket where over 300,000 Germans were trapped. His last letter dated April 1.

A brother, T/Sgt Leonard Brodman, completed 50 missions with the 15th AAF overseas.
