More information

T/4 Leo W. Goers enlisted before he married his fiancee, Loretta Letendre. After the wedding, at the end of his leave he was sent to Holland.

He was killed in a tank explosion shortly thereafter.

The Vasatka-Goers VFW Post in Mendota was named after him. His wife Loretta entered a convent and later spent two years in Asia doing charitable work during the Vietnam war.

Fred, Frank, Walter, Carl and Leo Goers, sons of Frank and Anna Goers, all fought overseas.
