T/4 Ernest Gorton enlisted 13 March 1942 at Camp Upton in Yaphank, New York. He was sent overseas in April 1944.He was wounded at Metz on 20 April 1944, for which he was awarded the Purple Heart a first time and was discharged from the General Hospital in France on 27 October 1944.
