Sgt Edward L. Attleton enlisted in Springfield, Massachusetts, on 26 March 1943.

The aircraft was attacked by enemy fighters and blew up.

Four crew members survived and were taken prisoner, four men were killed.

Sgt Attleton was initially buried at the community cemetery of Friesack on 22 June 1944.
