2nd Lt Richard H. Hibshman was a salesman before he volunteered for the Army of the United States in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on 23 October 1942.

The airplane was shot out of the air by 20mm fire of German FW-190’s.

He died while he and the navigator and the pilot where trying to open the forward escape hatch which was frozen. When the ship blew up.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Grand-Failly, France.

He is remembered at the Host Cemetery in Host, Berks County, Pennsylvania.
