More information

The aircraft left the formation approximately 4 miles northwest of the target area. The plane was a total wreck after it crashed as it struck houses. It was still burning after 20 minutes so close inspection was impossible. 5 Bodies were recovered, all unidentified at the time.

Lt frost didn“t bail out because he stayed in the airplane to render first aid to the radio operator.
