2nd Lt Stanley E. Renk attended college for two years.He enlisted in Camden, New Jersey on 10 July 1943.
The aircraft was shot down by flak. The entire crew of nine men was killed. Six men were initially buried at a temporary military cemetery at Haamstede as unknown. Only Sgt. Galbraith could be identified. The remains of Lt. Sample and Sgt. Sandberg were discovered in April 1947 during a mine clearing operation. The wreckage was recovered in 1973.
His brother, S/Sgt Henry B. Renk, is buried at the American Military Cemetery and Memorial of Normandy.
