1st Lt Nicholas C. Schiltz attended Senior High School.

He enlisted at Fort Bragg, North Carolina on 27 June 1941 and was sent overseas in September 1943.

Lt Schiltz participated in the invasion of Normandy.

He was killed in action by German mortar and small arms fire.

He left behind a wife and 14-month-old son.

1st Lt Schiltz was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Son, The Netherlands.

A monument marker for Lt Schiltz can be found at Elmwood Cemetery, Charlotte, North Carolina.
