More information

T/5 Joseph Senger worked for a food concern in his hometown.

He enlisted in Presidio of Monterey, California on 5 January 1942 and was already a veteran of the D-Day landing in Normandy.

Four days before the start of Operation Market Garde, he wrote to his parents. It was a letter filled with plans for the future, and the enthusiasm of a husky 24-year-old soldier who knew what he wanted to do when the war was over.

One day before the letter arrived, another message came, a telegram form the War Department, announcing his death in action.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Son, The Netherlands.
