1st Lt Charles J. Schultz was employed at Harrington & Richardson.Twenty-five to fifty Me-109s and FW-190s attacked the group just before the initial point of the bombing run.
The airplane exploded in the air and burned after the crash. One crew member survived and was taken prisoner and eight men were killed.
1st Lt Schultz didn't bail out.
