2nd Lt George E. Mac Dermott was employed at the Mitchell Dairy Company before he joined the Regular Army in Bridgeport, Connecticut on 21 September 1940.Twenty-five to fifty Me-109s and FW-190s attacked the group just before the initial point of the bombing run.
The airplane exploded in the air and burned after the crash. One crew member survived and was taken prisoner, eight men were killed.
2nd Lt. George E. Mac Dermott didn't bail out.
