S/Sgt Ralph H. Leyh graduated from Collingwood High School and was employed by Thompson Products.

He enlisted in Cleveland, Ohio on 18 August 1942.

According to the pilot, 2nd Lt Phillip A. Mohr the airplane was hit by flak.

He also remembered that S/Sgt Leyh was killed by 20mm gunfire.

Six crew members survived and were taken prisoner, four men were killed.
