The airplane was last seen east over Groningen, at about 1247 hrs. with #2 engine on fire and heading for cloud cones. It was being attacked by about five or six fighters.Two crew members were taken prisoner, and eight men were killed. They were initially buried at the churchyard of Offingawier.
Sgt Husband was in the ball turret when it was shot off.
