S/Sgt Richard E. Street attended graduating from Hyde Park High School in June, 1941 and was a weigher.

He volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States in Chicago, Illinois on 2 October 1942.

The airplane dropped out of formation somewhere over the Zuiderzee. The pilot stated that he had only a 30 min gas supply left, and would try to reach England. He was last seen going down through the clouds near Tessel Island. The entire crew of ten men was killed.

His brother Carter J. Street served in Africa.
