2nd Lt Douglas H. Baker graduated from Gloversville High School in 1940 and was an electrician.

He joined the Air Corps of the Regular Army in Albany, New York on 11 August 1941.

The airplane dropped out of formation somewhere over the Zuiderzee. The pilot stated that he had only a 30 min. gas supply left, and would try to reach England. He was last seen going down through the clouds near Texel Island. The entire crew of ten men was killed.

He is remembered at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Gloversville, Fulton County, New York.
