More information

S/Sgt Frank R. Ramsey was a meat cutter before he volunteered for the Air Corps of the U.S. Army at Fort Riley, Kansas, on 6 January 1942.

The plane blew up before hitting the water. It had been on fire and seemed to be trying to ditch. No parachutes were reported from this plane.

His wife never knew what had happened to him and his crew, only that their plane went missing. The crew left the States only a few months before. No letters from her husband were received, and many months went by not hearing from him. One day, after many months had passed, she received a package with her letters she had sent. Not one was opened. In addition, his wallet, hat and belt were in the package.
