S/Sgt Edwin W. Schultz Jr. attended high school for three years.He joined the Air Corps of the U.S. Army Reserve in Little Rock, Arkansas on 19 July 1943.
The mission of the day was dropping supplies for the ground troops, participating in Operation Varsity.
The airplane was hit by small arms fire when it was flying at 300 ft and caught fire. It crashed in flames and exploded. All ten crew members were killed.
