S/Sgt Alfred J. Antonacci attended Lincoln High School and was employed at the Jersey Journal before he volunteered in Hudson, New Jersey on 22 October 1942.The plane was shot down by Oblt Rufolf Englender in a Fw 190A-6 and crashed near Niedergrundau, Germany.
S/Sgt Antonacci bailed out and was wounded. He suffered bad phosphorus burns and had his arm was amputated in the hospital of Gerolstein.
He died of jaundice caused by phosphorus poisoning and was buried in the town cemetery. His remains could no longer be found after the war.
