Sgt Marion F. Semrad graduated from Boscobel High School in 1942 where he lettered in football as their center. He is honored in the naming of the local American Legion in his hometown.The plane failed to return due to a mid air collision with a German Fighter and crashed in the North Sea.
It was last seen to hit the water about 10 minutes off the Island of Nordernay with one engine on fire and the tail chewed up.
