2nd Lt Cornelius V. Corkery attended Loyola College in Montreal, Canada and Fordham College. He was employed at the City Sanitation Department. He received his silver wings at Hondo Army Air Field.Last seen to hit water about 10 minutes off island of Nordernay with one engine on fire, tail chewed up. On 26 July 1943 when it failed to return due to a mid air collision with a German fighter and crashed in the North Sea.
He is remembered on a plaque at Loyola College.
