Sgt James T. Ellenburg graduated from Jacksboro High School.He served in the National Guard as was called to active duty on 8 August 1941 at Camp Bowie, Brownwood, Texas. He trained at Scott Field, Illinois and was sent overseas in August, 1942.
His plane was last seen to hit water about 10 minutes of island of Norderney with one engine on fire, tail chewed up. On 26 July 1943 when it failed to return due to a mid-air collision with a German fighter and crashed in the North Sea. All ten of the crewmen were KIA.
