Pfc Stewart A. Rand worked on a farm near Heron, South Dakota before he volunteered for the Army of the United States at Fort Snelling, Minnesota on 19 February 1942.He was killed by small arms fire in his chest.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
