Pfc James T. Pigeon attended high school for two years and was employed at the United Elastic Corporation before he enlisted at Fort Devens, Massachusetts on 14 September 1942. He was sent overseas in June 1944.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
