2nd Lt John H. Hartman graduated from Bellvue High school in 1939 where he was active in sports.

Lt. Hartman was inducted into the Army on 4 August 1942 and reported for active duty on 19 August 1942. He was honorably discharged on 17 March 1943 to accept his commision to 2nd Lieutenant. At that moment he held the grade of Corporal while serving with the 29th Battery, Anti-Aircraft Artillery School.

The pictures were taken in high school in 1937 and 1939.
