Pfc Ladd M. Gibson worked on his own farm before he enlisted in Lubbock, Texas on 2 July 1942.

He served in the airborne for a time, but he was in the infantry at the time of his death. He died of wounds received the preceeding day.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
