Pfc Charles T. Dietzel enlisted in Columbus, Ohio on 23 January 1943.

He was accidentally shot while standing guard duty at Regensburg, Germany on 5 December 1945. He died of his wounds in the 98th General Hospital that was stationed in Munich at that time.
