Pfc Frank L. Babinetz enlisted in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania on 9 March 1944.

He was wounded in action on 4 October 1944. for this wound, he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal a first time.

His brother, Sgt Joseph V. Babinetz, was wounded in action on the Island of Leyte on 20 October 1944 and was killed in the battle on Mindanao on 21 May 1945. He is memorialized on Manila American Cemetery in the Philippines.
