Pvt John Podish was a miner before he enlisted in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on 30 November 1942. He was sent overseas in December 1943.His parents were both born in Czechoslovakia.
Pvt Podish was reported wounded in action on the morning of 13 October 1944 and died that afternoon.
